History Marine Ices was founded by Gaetano Mansi in 1931, after arriving in England from his native village of Ravello, Southern Italy at the turn of the century. He started with a small shop in Chalk farm, where he made a range of ice creams and fresh fruit sorbets for his customers to eat on the premises or to take home. In 1946, he was joined by his two sons, Anacleto and Aldo, who saw a niche in the market for quality Italian ice cream. Realising the market potential, they subsequently began to supply restaurants and hotels. In 1974, Anacleto and Aldo were joined by their three sons: Dante, Gino and Gaetano. They now run the family company, and have expanded the product range, but continue to use only the finest ingredients, just like the previous generations. In 2006, the 75th Anniversary year, they in turn were joined by Dante's sons Aldo and Benny, Gaetano's great - grandsons. They have thus become the fourth Mansi generation to carry on the family traditions. ![]() |
